About Us - Mission Mission – The mission of the Sylvia Bond Nursing Society (SBNS) is to prepare professional nurses to collaborate, lead, and promote excellence in healthcare.
History –SBNS originated in 2000 to encourage people to choose nursing as a career by educating, role modeling, recognizing and celebrating the nursing profession. The Society is committed to developing highly skilled and specialized nurse leaders to excel in the profession, educate, and mentor others. The lighthouse, the Society's symbol of professional achievement, was inspired by Sylvia Bond, R.N., who was a beacon for the nursing profession in central Georgia for 30 years. She lit the way and guided others as a professional nurse, nurse educator and leader. She led efforts to establish community-based health programs and establish high standards of excellence for patient care. Over the years, the focus the Sylvia Bond Nursing Society has widened to encompass the scope of the nursing profession, including a vigorous response to the national and local nursing shortage at all levels of nursing.
